Mejia Physical Therapy and Wellness Patient Savings and Value

Mejia Physical Therapy and Wellness is not a participating provider with any insurance plan except for Medicare. Why? The current insurance-based model continues to get more restrictive and it has become more difficult for us to provide the level of care that we believe is needed. Since Mejia Physical Therapy and Wellness started out as a Medicare provider, we will continue to gladly serve our senior population that carry Medicare Part B.

Payment and Insurance

As an example, if your current copay for physical therapy is $40 and you are seeing your therapist 3 days/week in a traditional outpatient PT setting, that works out to an upfront cost $120/week for about 15-30 minutes per visit of 1-on-1 time with your therapist. Depending on the condition, it’s common for you to be in therapy for 6-8 weeks (that could be 24 PT visits!), which works out to a total cost of $720-$960 in co-pays alone.

If a new patient receives 1-on-1 care from Mejia Physical Therapy and Wellness at a cost of $100/visit and we provide the home based service of coming to you, on average, you would only require 1 visit per week for 4-7 weeks (an avg 4-7 visits). This means your total cost would only be approx. $400-$700. Additionally, if you have out of network insurance benefits, your insurance company may reimburse a large portion of your services with us.

The savings and value of using Mejia Physical Therapy and Wellness are magnified if your insurance co-pay for physical therapy is higher than $40 or if you have a high deductible insurance plan. Costs can also rise due to insurance company denials, or if you have used up all of your allotted visits for the year. If you fall into any of these scenarios, you will ultimately have to pay out of pocket for your care if you use a traditional PT office that accepts insurance. In this typical scenario not only will you still get only 15-30 minutes of 1-on-1 attention from your therapist, but instead of simply paying your normal copay, you will have to pay for the entire visit.

If you have to pay for an hour of physical therapy wouldn’t it make sense for it to be an hour of 1-on-1 time with your therapist? If you combine not only the money saved, but also factor in the time saved having fewer visits, zero travel time and less time in pain, you will see why Mejia Physical Therapy and Wellness offers you a significant value and provides peace of mind.

Appointment Request

Why not take other insurance? Simply put, we would not be able to provide the kind of high level care, variety of services and individualized treatment that we do currently when working with an insurance-based model.

Therapists at clinics that accept most insurance plans are often required to see 3 – 4 patients at the same time and usually spend, on average, 15 minutes of 1-on-1 time with each patient and often have aides assist patients with exercises.  At Mejia Physical Therapy and Wellness you get 1-on-1 time the entire session with your therapist and will likely require fewer visits to achieve your goals because of this. The typical cost of a session is  approximately $80-$150 per visit. Depending on your plan, your insurance company may reimburse you for part of the cost.  We will gladly provide you with a detailed invoice to facilitate this.
